The Assistant Warehouse Manager supports daily warehouse operations, ensuring accurate receiving, storage, and distribution of goods. This role assists the Warehouse Manager in driving productivity, safety, and efficiency while maintaining compliance with company and regulatory standards. The position combines hands-on supervision with process improvement, system oversight, and team leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily warehouse functions including receiving, picking, packing, and shipping.
  • Maintain accurate inventory control and conduct regular cycle counts.
  • Monitor performance metrics (accuracy, speed, and cost) and recommend improvements.
  • Oversee staff scheduling, training, and performance to ensure efficient coverage.
  • Communicate shipment or freight delays and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
  • Enforce safety and WHMIS standards, maintaining a clean and compliant workspace.
  • Utilize WMS/ERP systems (e.g., Sage X3) to track orders, stock levels, and reporting.
  • Supervise warehouse associates; provide feedback, coaching, and development.
  • Support procurement and logistics coordination, including 3PL and vendor relations.
  • Act as the lead point of contact in the Warehouse Manager’s absence.

Qualifications

  • 3–4 years’ experience in warehouse or logistics operations, with 1+ year in a lead/supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management, WMS, and ERP systems (Sage X3 or similar).
  • Understanding of WHMIS, workplace safety, and handling of regulated materials.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain) and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
